Concert Band Music Director and Conductor Position Available
The Tuggeranong Valley Band is seeking a Music Director and Conductor for our Concert Band.
The Tuggeranong Valley Band (TVB) is a not-for-profit Community Band that provides a fun, friendly environment for people to come together and play music. The TVB is open to musicians of all ages and skill levels. We currently have two bands, our beginner to intermediate level Ensemble Band and our more advanced Concert Band. We are currently looking for a Music Director to conduct our Concert Band.
The TVB Concert Band Music Director manages and conducts a weekly 2-hour rehearsal during school terms (40 rehearsals per year, held on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 at the Farrer Primary School Hall).
Additionally, the Music Director also conducts the band at community performances during the year – the number of performances will vary from year to year but typically is around 10 annually. The Music Director is also required to provide an in-person or written report for regular TVB Committee meetings. The Tuggeranong Valley Band will provide the successful candidate with a Memorandum of Understanding outlining all requirements for this position as well as an honorarium to cover time and expenses.
Interested candidates should have some experience with conducting a concert band and reading music scores, noting that extensive Music Director experience is not a prerequisite. We are looking for a Music Director who can provide our band members with an enjoyable environment for playing music together.
Expressions of interest should be emailed to tuggeranongvalleyband@gmail.com
Please outline your interest in this position along with your Music Director experience and approach along with your contact details. Please provide any other relevant details you would like to make us aware of, and any questions you may have about this position.
Please submit your applications by Friday 1 May.
All candidates will be contacted by the Tuggeranong Valley Band President and/or Secretary to arrange further discussions.
